Why is Self-Care Important?
“Self-Care” is a term that was coined in the 1950’s in the medical field. It began with discussion around the importance of people with post traumatic stress and patients who were institutionalized and their need to have purpose and meaning in their life. The term then travelled into the civil rights activists groups.
Now days the term self-care is thrown around like confetti. What exactly is self-care and why does it matter?
Well, here are my two cents and I would love to hear yours!
What the Ocean Taught Me
For a while, nothing came. I continued to walk but then I noticed I wasn't enjoying myself. I was feeling frustrated because I wasn't finding any shells and the waves kept knocking me off balance.
Then, I felt the Spirit say..........Look Up!
I am Grieving, I am Sad…But I Am Not Broken
What I’ve come to discover is that when I use a term like “broken” or “shattered” or “crumble”, it makes me feel weak and afraid…. Nothing is wrong with us - we are just sad.
Purpose, Not Plan
I think our Life’s Purpose naturally flows out of WHO WE ARE - so we need to focus on lining up Who We Are, with Who God Is Calling Us To Be.
